BONDING INSTRUCTIONS
FINGER SPLICE:
AFTER CUTTING FINGERS
CAREFULLY PUT EACH OF THE PREPARED ENDS INTO THE HEAT PRESS (NO FOIL REQUIRED)
TAKING EXTRA CARE IN MAKING SURE THE AREA TO BE JOINED IS CENTERED OVER THE
HEATING PLATEN ON YOUR HEAT PRESS. SPOT WELD THE FINGER ENDS TO INSURE THAT
THERE IS NO SLIPPAGE WHEN THE PRESSURE IS APPLIED AND SPOT WELD YOUR BORDERS
TO EACH EDGE TO MAKE SURE THERE IS EVEN PRESSURE OVER THE ENTIRE LAP AREA.
AFTER THE TOP HALF OF YOUR HEAT PRESS HAS BEEN FASTENED SECURELY APPLY
APPROXIMATELY 20 LBS. OF PRESSURE. HEAT TO 320 DEG. F. WHEN THIS TEMPERATURE
HAS BEEN ACHIEVED, ALLOW 5 MINUTES COOK TIME BEFORE COOLING. ONCE THE LAP HAS
REACHED ROOM TEMPERATURE BELT IS READY TO BE PUT INTO SERVICE. Check
temperature charts for various belt types and cook ranges.
OVERLAP SPLICE:
CUT BELT ENDS TO LENGTH AND
SQUARE. PUT EACH END INTO THE HEAT PRESS WITH AN OVERLAP OF 1/4" TAKING
EXTRA CARE IN MAKING SURE THE AREA TO BE JOINED IS CENTERED OVER THE HEATING
PLATEN ON YOUR HEAT PRESS. SPOT WELD THE TOP SIDE AND BOTTOM SIDE OF THE
OVERLAP IN SEVERAL PLACES TO INSURE THAT THERE IS NO SLIPPAGE. SPOT WELD YOUR
BORDERS TO EACH EDGE FOR EVEN PRESSURE OVER ENTIRE LAP AREA. AFTER THE TOP
HALF OF YOUR HEAT PRESS HAS BEEN FASTENED SECURELY, APPLY APPROXIMATELY 20
LBS. OF PRESSURE. HEAT TO 320 DEG. F. WHEN THIS TEMPERATURE HAS BEEN ACHIEVED,
ALLOW 5 MINUTES COOK TIME BEFORE COOLING. ONCE THE LAP HAS REACHED ROOM
TEMPERATURE BELT IS READY TO BE PUT INTO SERVICE.
ANDRO SPLICE:
CUT BELT ENDS TO LENGTH AND
SQUARE. MAKE SURE ENDS ARE CLEAN AND FREE OF CONTAMINANTS BEFORE WELDING. ONCE
THE ANDRO SPLICE TOOL IS FULLY HEATED APPROXIMATELY 360 DEG. F TO 400 DEG. F,
PLACE THE BELT ENDS INTO THE JAWS OF THE TOOL ALLOWING APPROXIMATELY 1/8"
OF BELTING MATERIAL TO EXTEND OUT FROM EACH JAW TOWARD CENTER PORTION OF TOOL.
OPEN JAWS AND PLACE PRE- HEATED WAND BETWEEN ENDS OF THE BELTING AND RELEASE
PLUNGER PRESSURE MAKING SURE THAT EACH BELT END FULLY TOUCHES THE HEAT WAND.
MAKE SURE THE HEAT WAND IS CLEAN TO INSURE PROPER WELD. ALLOW ENDS TO MELT
APPROXIMATELY 1/16" EACH END. AFTER SUFFICIENT MELT, DEPRESS PLUNGER TO
OPEN JAWS FULLY AND REMOVE HEAT WAND, CAREFULLY, AS TO AVOID PULLING OUT THE
MELT. RELEASE PLUNGER PRESSURE ALLOWING MELTED ENDS TO COME TOGETHER SMOOTHLY
AND SQUARELY. ALLOW TO COOL APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES. REMOVE BELT FROM TOOL AND
TRIM FLASH. BELT IS NOW READY FOR USE. WHILE HEATING WAND IS STILL HOT, CLEAN
OFF ANY MELTED BELTING MATTER WITH A SOFT, CLEAN, OIL-FREE CLOTH. ALLOW WAND
TO COMPLETELY COOL IN STAND BEFORE STORING.
